GKL bucks market trend after 12 months in new offices

2 November 2009
Fleet leasing specialist GKL continues to buck the market trend as it celebrates the first year in its new offices.

Over 12 months ago the business invested half a million pounds in a bespoke office building to house its existing staff and provide room for ambitious growth plans.

The investment coincided as the UK vehicle market was hit by one of the largest downturns in its history, but GKL has actually increased its fleet vehicle volumes as the UK car market has shrunk.

The business, with a head office in Chesterfield and sales offices in High Wycombe, Luton and Bristol, now employs 25 staff, with a rising vehicle portfolio and clients ranging across the corporate fleet market from both the public and private sectors. GKL also takes on personal contract hire business.

"The business has grown steadily over the past 23 years, built on a sound financial footing," comments managing director Richard Kenning, "but we had outgrown our previous premises and required a modern, flexible, workspace for our staff, with room for more people as we expand."

The new, two-storey 4,000 sq.ft office space was designed specifically for GKL, and is seen as an important step in the company's five-year strategy to grow the business.

General manager John Stevenson adds: "We have positioned GKL in a different way to our competitors in that we offer a very personal, one-to-one advisory and consultancy service. And it does not matter whether the customer is a small business with a handful of employees or a local authority and several hundred vehicles, each driver receives a personalised, tailored service to match the vehicle which best suits them and their needs."
