Fleet Management

In addition to the vehicle(s) and funding, an essential part of your agreement is the degree of fleet management you’ll require. Many companies like to hand over the complete management of their vehicles to GKL and we’re happy to do this; others treat the following as a menu.

The benefits that are common to most contracts are:

  • Pre-delivery liaison: we contact the dealers every week to check on progress and, if there is any change to the expected delivery date, we keep you informed. You can also check progress on our web site.
  • Free delivery to anywhere in the UK
  • Regular maintenance. The driver is expected to have the vehicle serviced according to the manufacturer’s recommendations, which is in your interest too, as a well-maintained vehicle is less likely to let you down and disrupt your business. Unlike most contract hire companies, who are restrictive about where the vehicles can be serviced, if maintenance is included in your contract GKL is usually happy for the driver to nominate their preferred franchised dealer/workshop, which may be near their home or office, and credit facilities with that garage will be arranged.
  • MoT testing where necessary, on the same basis as servicing (above). Of course, most contracts are for new cars which don’t require an MoT for the first three years of use.
  • Road Fund Licence. A tax disc will be automatically forwarded to each driver every year, by recorded delivery to ensure that it doesn’t go astray.
  • Roadside assistance and recovery. You will never be left stranded!
  • Tyres, when required, can be replaced at approved centres throughout the UK, many of whom offer a mobile service so that the work can be carried out at your office or the driver’s home. Telephone booking is through our 24 hour ‘Tyreline’.
  • Windscreen and glass replacement can be offered on the same basis as tyres, with a 24 hour telephone line.
  • Replacement vehicles. In the event of your vehicle being off the road, a replacement can be supplied from our daily hire fleet to keep you mobile.
  • Disposal of the vehicle at the end of the contract. Your car or van will be collected so that you don’t have the hassle of trading it in or selling it on. If you have taken out another contract, we will endeavour to deliver the new vehicle at the same time. Alternatively you may wish to buy the vehicle that you have become used to (perhaps as a family car) and we are happy to agree preferential terms for existing drivers.
  • Reporting regularly on cars and vans through our web site. Using a unique password, you can check the progress of vehicles on order; see the anticipated date that each vehicle’s next service is due; manage MoTs and Road Fund Licences; and make arrangements to reallocate a car to a different driver or arrange to take the vehicle abroad.

All of the above are designed to make your life as easy as possible. You don’t need to worry about your fleet and can get on with running your business.
